SARNEN or ÄGERI: which alpaca beanie should you choose?
Share
Two beanies, one wool. The SARNEN and the ÄGERI are both knitted in 100% alpaca, with a turn-up cuff and the Swiss Alpine Peak patch. But they don't wear the same way. Here's what sets them apart, and who we'd recommend each one for.
SARNEN: the tight knit
The SARNEN is knitted in a dense rib. The stitch is crisp, the texture well defined, and the beanie has structure: it holds its shape on your head and looks great worn slightly turned up. It's the “sharp” beanie of the range, the one that goes as well with a city coat as with a mountain jacket. Two colours: Magma Red, a bold red, and Pearl White, a warm ivory.
ÄGERI: the downy finish
The ÄGERI is knitted from a brushed yarn that gives it a downy, almost mohair-like look, without the fragility. It feels softer, the silhouette is more relaxed, and the beanie rests on your head rather than shaping it. Three colours: Midnight Black, Arctic White and Candy Pink, a powder pink.
Warmth: a tie
Same wool, same knit thickness: both are equally warm. The difference lies in the feel: the ÄGERI envelops, the SARNEN holds. To understand why alpaca is so warm, read our comparison with merino and cashmere.
Depending on your face shape
- Slim or long face: the ÄGERI, whose soft volume balances your features.
- Round face: the SARNEN, worn slightly turned up, lengthens the silhouette.
- Long hair: either; the ÄGERI slips less on straight hair.
- Under a hood or helmet: the SARNEN, flatter and neater.
Men, women: both are unisex
Our beanies are one size, designed to fit most adult head shapes. We show every colour in the women's collection and all but pink in the men's collection (but nothing stops you).
The pairing that always works
The SARNEN Magma Red with the red and sand KANDER scarf is our most requested combination; the ÄGERI Arctic White with the camel KANDER is the softest. To tie the scarf, we've written a short guide.
Price and care
The ÄGERI is €37.90, the SARNEN €39.90. Care is identical: hand-wash cold, dry flat, as explained in our care guide. And if you're still undecided once it arrives, you have 30 days to change your mind.
